Centres for Health – Camrose Chiropractic Clinic Offers
Cold Laser

The role of using light in health is not new. Light in various forms have been used for healing from the time of ancient Egyptian and Greek civilizations and we have brought Cold Laser light therapy to our office to enhance your health.

What is Laser Therapy?

Cold Laser is a therapeutic application of monochromatic light at low intensities. Laser is an acronym for Light Amplification via Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Laser light is unique in that it is close to one specific wavelength and propagates waves that oscillate together in an ordered and aligned way called in-phase. Laser photons are amplified by physical process of the laser design. There are three different parts to a laser: an energy source, a laser material that absorbs this energy and emits it as light, and a cavity that makes this light resonate and channels it into a narrow beam.

How Does this Happen?

The light source is placed in contact with the skin allowing the photon energy to penetrate tissue, where it interacts with various intracellular bio-molecules resulting in the restoration of normal cell morphology and function. In short, laser adds energy to living systems and enhances natural healing processes.Four widely accepted effects noted in literature are:

  1. Bio-stimulation and tissue regeneration
  2. Reduction of inflammation
  3. Analgesia (pain relief)
  4. Antibacterial and antiviral effects

It is important that light be applied to clean skin, free from oils or creams as these will reduce penetration of the photons by reflecting them off the skin surface.

What are the Advantages of Laser Therapy?

Non-invasive, non-toxic, easily applied, highly effective with no known negative side effects.

How does Laser Therapy correlate with other modalities offered at Camrose Chiropractic Clinic?
  1. Chiropractic corrects spinal biomechanics keeping the neurospinal pathways open and healthy to ensure proper communication between the central nervous system and the rest of the body.
  2. Muscle therapy helps to keep the supporting structures of the body healthy and balanced.
  3. Laser Therapy is a non-invasive, non-toxic, easily applied and highly effective tool with no known negative side effects or drug interactions. Laser works great on pain relief, reducing inflammation, and improves range of motion by restoring normal cellular function and accelerating tissue repair.
How does Laser Feel?

There is not any sensation when the diode is applied. You may feel warm and relaxed with pain relief. Should you experience an increase in pain, a phenomenon due to excessive tissue response, please utilize ice on the area and notify clinic staff at your next visit.

How long is a Laser Therapy treatment?

Usually under 30 minutes in length depending on the condition being treated.

What are some of the Applications for Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy not only works on reducing inflammation, improving range of motion and pain relief on any area of the body, but you may try Laser Therapy on:

Arthritis, Back Pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Headaches/Migraines, Hearing Disorders, Lymphedema, Maxillofacial Disorders, Menier’s Disease, Nerve Regeneration, Neuralgia Neuropathy, Pain (Musculoskeletal, Myofascial, Nerve), Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, Respiratory Disorders (ie:Sinusitis), Sports Injuries, Tendonitis, Tinnitus.
